China has launched the 49th satellite of its self-developed BeiDou satellite navigation system. The launch took place early this morning at the XI Chang Launch Center in southwest China. The satellite was carried by a home-grown Long March-3B rocket. China plans to complete the global navigation system next year, which will require six more rockets.
