Police say a man shot dead by officers at Erina on the New South Wales Central Coast was making threats to set his neighbours house alight. The home where officers gunned down 45 year old Jason Pearce is being examined by forensics teams. He's said to have threatened police with an axe while they responded to reports of a neighbourly dispute.
British police say they now believe all 39 people found dead in a refrigerated truck in south-east England last week were Vietnamese nationals. They were initially thought to be Chinese, but a number of families in Vietnam have since stated their family were among the dead. Essex police released a statement saying they are in contact with the Vietnamese government.
And Australia has beaten Sri Lanka in their third and final Twenty-20 international. The home side cruised to victory with 14 balls to spare at the MCG.
