Saudi Arabia claims the attack on its oil industry was "unquestionably sponsored by Iran". Its defence ministry has shown off wreckage from weapons that it says prove Iran is responsible. Iran continues to deny any involvement. Yemen's Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for the attack. Meanwhile, US president Donald Trump has ordered a major increase in sanctions on Iran. Saudi Arabia's defence ministry is doubling down on it's claim about Irans involvement.
Indonesia will send 100 shipping containers of plastic recycling back to Australia, after finding them contaminated with toxic materials. There's been a crackdown on waste imports in recent months, with more than two thousand shipping containers intercepted in Indonesia. The country is one of the world's worst contributors to plastic pollution in the oceans. Despite this, thousands of tonnes of plastic waste is imported into Indonesia each year for recycling.
In the US, the Federal Reserve has cut interest rates for the second time this year amid concerns about slowing global growth and trade wars. The central bank lowered the target range for its key interest rate by zero point two five per cent to between one point seven five and two percent. The bank says the cut is aimed at shoring up the US economy.
