We start with Huawei. The company’s founder Ren Zhengfei said on Tuesday that the company's signature 5G technology will not be affected by the US ban. Huawei’s 5G technology is actually widely considered two or three years ahead of all its competitors. The founder said recent maneuvers by US politicians had underestimated Huawei's strength. And that a 90-day extension offered by Washington's Commerce Department afford a firm to do business with US counterparts did not mean much. He emphasized that while Huawei does not intend to exclude US microchips, the company has backup components in case of a supply shortage. Ren Zhengfei says that during what he called a peace period half of highways chips came from US suppliers and half from Huawei itself.
