Teaching with tablet PCs has been practiced in over 100 primary schools in Shanghai. That's according to sources at a recent education expo in the city.
An open class for grade one students from a foreign language school was staged at the expo to showcase the teaching style. The English class was held without paper or a white board, but everyone got a tablet.
The tablets were installed with software applications for Oxford English textbooks with audio and visual effects for interactive activities.
When a teacher asked a question, students tapped their tablet screens to submit their answers.
A student at the expo, Luo Minming, said after the class that games on the tablet attracted him to learn English.
The teacher in the showcase, Zhao Huanhuan, said the adoption of tablet PCs has made interactive teaching easier and the class livelier.
Nowadays, publishing houses are starting to team up with software developers to come up with teaching applications, and apps have been developed covering all English and Chinese poetry textbooks from grade one to nine.
