Radiation Leak Would Not Affect China over the Next 3 Days
The World Meteorological Organization has activated its Environmental Emergency Response mechanism to monitor the meteorological conditions in and around the quake-hit areas of Japan.
China's meteorological authority has now said the nuclear radiation leakage following explosions at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan would not affect China over the next three days.
Meteorological experts say that the radioactive materials from Japan's earthquake-stricken nuclear power plant will not impose a threat to China under current weather conditions.
Sun Jun is a meteorological expert from the National Meteorological Center.
"There is cold air getting closer to Japan. It will influence most of the country tomorrow, and make temperatures in Japan much lower. The current east-blowing winds will turn to west-blowing winds, therefore, radioactive substances won't pose a threat to China."
West-blowing winds will prevail in the area of Japan's Fukushima nuclear plant over the next three days, making China's air less-likely to become tainted by radioactive substances leaked from the nuclear plant.
