Ireland's Traditional Song and Dance at Expo
Anchor: The Irish are well known for their sense of fun and humour and their love of parties, so no surprise then that celebrations were on full blast at the irish Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo for Ireleands National Pavilion Day.
Visitors can listen to authentic Irish folk songs and tap dance and as a prelude to the day's festivities on an outdoor stage Ireland's Bru Boru Performance Group showed them how it was done in true Irish style.
Zhang Ru went along to find out more.
Swept along by the music visitors could not resist tapping their feet or clapping their hands to the beat.
"I have watched Ireland's River Dance before. I like their tap dance. So I came here to see the performance."
Everyone it seems is enthusastic and has something good to say.
"Their performance is great. I have never seen such great performance before."
74-year-old Irish traditional singer Sean O Se and dancers are at the National Day Gala singing Irish folk songs in Gaelic, a Celtic language.
"We are very proud to have brought our tradition here. I think the charm of Irish music is that we are blessed with having a wonderful melodic music. I think what make it very attractive to people is the power of the melody. And I think maybe that's what makes it such kind of world music."
The Irish president Mary McAleese will also attend the activities for Ireland's National Pavilion Day.
