Car Sales Rise during the Natioal Day Holiday

Vacation time is not only a period for relaxation and fun, but also a good time to buy a car for some people in China. During the National Day holiday, car sales have increased in many parts of China, especially in Shenzhen and Chongqing.

Various car models and price promotions are the highlights of the Shenzhen Fall Motor Trade Fair.
Discounts for different models range from 5,000 yuan to 30,000 yuan. These are considered to be the highest discounts on offer so far this year. In addition, some dealers are even providing vehicle buyers with auto insurance.

Song Wei is the manager of an auto dealership in Shenzhen. He says these offers have greatly contributed to a recent increase in sales.

"On Monday alone we sold about 63 Nissans together with 39 BYDs. The level of sales has been very good these days."

Many car buyers in Chongqing prefer energy efficient and hybrid vehicles because of rising oil prices and preferential government policies for purchases of cars with smaller engine displacements.And more people are focusing on price and practicability when shopping for a new car.

Yang Hai is the manager of an auto sales and service dealership in Chongqing.

"We now have the orders for November already. Sales have been going on very well. Supplies have even fallen short of demand."

Besides the popularity of smaller-engine displacement cars, domestic autos are proving popular in Kunming, Yunnan Province.

Zhou Run manages an auto dealership in Kunming.

"We have sold nearly 20 domestic cars in the past couple of days. That is twice the amount we sell in normal periods."

Auto loans are a popular way to finance new car purchases in some countries, the Chinese have so far not been keen to take out loans to buy vehicles.

However, more people are opting for loans during this year's National Day holiday.

Liu Junli from Beijing already has a car but wants to buy a second one for his work. He says he originally intended to buy a new car at the same time next year after saving enough money. But now he has found that car loans can be a great help.

"Buying a new car will cost me a large sum of money. Taking out a loan is a good option to purchase a car, and I can still have enough cash for something else. The repayment terms are acceptable. I think they are pretty good."
