Chinese President: China, Russia should Further Promote Strategic Partnership of Cooperation
Chinese President Hu Jintao says the China-Russia strategic partnership of cooperation is bound to have a better future so long as the two sides seize the opportunity and join hands in deepening it.
Hu Jintao made the remarks on Wednesday during talks with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow.
The Chinese President recalled the development of Sino-Russian relations in the past 60 years, especially the achievements made since the two countries set up their strategic partnership of cooperation in 1996.
"We both agree that the China-Russia cooperation in the international affairs have been fruitful. We agree to further cooperate within the framework of international or regional multilateral organizations such as the United Nation and the Shanghai Cooperation Organizations, to jointly maintain the regional and world peace and stability."
Hu Jintao also stressed the importance of mutual trust and support in the bilateral ties, and said the two countries should strengthen cooperation in such fields as economy, trade and energy.
For his part, Medvedev said the frequent meetings between the leaders of Russia and China have yielded desirable results, indicating a strong and fine momentum in the bilateral relations.
"The talks between we and the Chinese delegation, which is led by President Hu Jintao, is carried out in a friendly and constructive atmosphere of mutual trust. The two sides have also expressed the desire to develop bilateral ties on the basis of neighborly friendship, mutual trust and benefit."
After the meeting, Hu Jintao and Medvedev signed several agreements on bilateral cooperation in the fields of natural gas and coal mining as well as financial area.
Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in Moscow on Tuesday night for a three-day state visit to Russia after attending the SCO summit and the meeting of BRIC leaders in Yekaterinburg in central Russia.
