International Rowing Federation President Denis Oswald has said he's deeply impressed by the organization of the Beijing Olympics.
Oswald has been focusing on the rowing matches held at the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park in northern Beijing. He said the venue is the best he's seen at an Olympic Games.
"It's a wonderful installation. It's a very nice park, highest technical quality. And all the athletes have praised the course for not only being beautiful surroundings and everything, but also the fairness of the course, because there is hardly any wind."
Oswald says so far, everything has proved that Beijing was the right choice for the Olympics.
"If I have to use one word, I would say 'excellent.' The way that the games have been prepared, organized and run, is certainly an excellent way, and what you have achieved is fantastic, is excellent. I always said before, and more recently, and now, that it was an excellent choice, the best possible choice."
Oswald was elected as an executive board member by the International Olympic Committee general assembly this month. He is also chief inspector for the 2012 London Games.
Oswald noted that Beijing has set a good example for all future organizers, adding London can learn from Beijing in terms of transportation control for the 2012 Olympics.
