Lesson 13 Dialogue My Way or the Highway
Leslie: Hey, it's good to catch up with you again!
I'm liking all these new faces here, but sometimes I detect tension due to the generation gap.
Ryker: For sure, our generation values flexibility, spontaneity, and breaking barriers.
On the one hand, I certainly do not mind age, but I do insist on having people be down to earth.
Leslie: Different mindsets seem to be a stumbling block to communication, but a concise set of rules could minimize that problem.
Ryker: Well, have you talked to the manager lately?
He's certainly down to earth, but all my recommendations fall flat with him. We really need a more viable partnership.
Leslie: Indeed, he does seem to have preconceived notions about us new employees, as if all we do is Twitter and Facebook all day!
Ryker: Well, we could give him some candid feedback. After all, creativity is not finite; we could innovate new practices and procedures.
Leslie: Well, I just hope that if you do so that it does not backfire with the boss giving you the famous ultimatum: My Way or the Highway!
Ryker: Well, as they say, a happy worker is a productive worker. So, I might just try my luck!
