consequence是“结果，后果”的意思。与表示“事物最终结果”的result 不同，consequence是表示由于某种行为而弓|发的结果，而且consequence 较之result更i正式。如：’the result of the vote (选举的最终结果)，the consequence of the decision (决定的后果)0在大多数情况下，两者是可 以通用的，比如as a consequence和as a result都是固定短语，都表本“结 果”的意思。请看下面的例子：
