South Korean lawmakers have led a rally in Tokyo with local activists to protest against Japan's Fukushima wastewater release plan.

Demonstrators gathered outside the Japanese prime minister's office, demanding that authorities scrap the controversial discharge.

And many chanted, "Listen to the voices from South Korea, and the world is against it."
许多人高呼，“听听韩国的声音吧，全世界都在反对这项计划。”
Japan's government has said that the water must be removed from the Fukushima nuclear power plant to prevent any accidental leaks.

The International Atomic Energy Agency approved Japan's plan last week.

And the South Korean government has backed the move, however widespread opposition remains.

"We cannot either understand or remain silent about the situation where Japan, a developed nation that portrays itself as leader of Asia,

Meanwhile, New Zealand's foreign minister Nanaia Mahuta has met with the head of the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog Rafael Grossi.

And Ms Mahuta said that her nation had full confidence in the IAEA's advice and commended them for their science-based approach.
