Now China has updated its COVID-19 protocols for diagnosis and treatment.

It's the 9th edition of the rulebook since it was first released in January 2020.

Let's take a look at some of the latest changes.

Based on the new plan, patients with mild symptoms will no longer be admitted to hospitals, but will be treated at centralized quarantine facilities.

Previously, patients needed two consecutive negative results from nucleic acid or PCR tests,

now patients are free to leave with one test result that shows a cycle threshold or CT value that is equal to or higher than 35.
而现在，只要一次检测结果显示CT值（周期阈值）大于等于35，患者即可解除隔离。
A high CT value generally indicates a low viral load in a patient's specimen.

CT values do not necessarily indicate a person's infectiousness or risk level for the disease.

Originally, recovered patients had to spend an additional 14 days in quarantine at designated health facilities,

and that's been changed to a 7-day home quarantine with regular self-checks.

Additions to the updated protocols include two antiviral drugs, traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture treatments, and rapid antigen self-test kits.
