John and Bill were good friends. But they didn't see each other very often.
约翰和比尔是好朋友。可是他们不常见面。
One night, they were having dinner.
一天晚上，他们一起共进晚餐。
They chatted about the things they were doing.
他们聊了自己目前在做些什么。
They both used their phones.
他们两人都使用手机。
John took a picture of his food. He showed Bill a video, too.
约翰为自己的餐点拍了一张照片，也播了一段影片给比尔看。
But Bill was always looking at his phone. And he kept getting messages.
可是比尔一直不停看着手机，也不断收到信息。
"Sorry, John, but I met a nice girl last week," said Bill.
“约翰，不好意思，可是我上星期刚认识一个很不错的女孩，”比尔说。
"We went on a date, and it was really fun. So now we text a lot."
“我们约了会，玩得很开心，所以我们现在一直不断发信息。”
John was happy for Bill. He could understand talking to a new girlfriend.
约翰为比尔感到开心。他可以理解和新女友交谈的兴奋感。
But Bill's phone kept interrupting them during their talk.
可是比尔的手机在他们谈话时一直打断他们。
John didn't appreciate that.
约翰不喜欢这样。
John was having problems with his own girlfriend.
约翰和自己的女友遇到了一些问题。
He wanted to talk to Bill about that.
他想要和比尔谈谈这一点。
"Bill, I want to tell you about something, but it's a long story," John said.
“比尔，我想要告诉你一件事情，可是说来话长，”约翰说。
"I'd love to listen! Nothing would make me happier," said Bill.
“我很愿意听！没有别的事情会比听你说话更令我开心了，”比尔说。
Then Bill's phone beeped again!
这时，比尔的手机又响了起来！
"Oh, sorry," said Bill. "I've got to get that."
“哦，抱歉，”比尔说，“我必须接听这通电话。”
