A rhetorical question. A rhetorical question is a question that does not expect an answer.
反问句。反问句是指不指望得到答案的问句。
Example: 'Surely you can help me?'
例如：‘你当然可以帮助我吧？’
So, a rhetorical question is quite... quite a nice way of having a change in an argument;
反问句是一种很好的改变争论的方式；
you're coming up with these different reasons - the rhetorical question puts a pause in because it's: 'Well, where's the answer?'
你想出了这些不同的原因——反问句会停顿一些，因为这个停顿像是在问：‘答案在哪呢？’
Repetition: 'Please, please help.' Yap.
重复：‘拜托，请你帮帮我。’
The second 'please', there, repeated, adds to the sense of desperation and urgency with which we need this help. Okay.

Another way you could try is by trying to strike a deal with the person. Okay?

So, a deal is an agreement. What's in it for them? How can they benefit from helping you?

'If you help me, I'll help you. If you help me, I'll help you get a promotion by writing a fantastic report saying you are employee of the month.'

Or why not use some facts and statistics? Okay? So: 'A baby needs to sleep every six hours.'

'If I just have him sat on my lap, he's not going to sleep, therefore there will be pain,
‘如果我让他坐在我腿上，他会睡不着，所以会很难受，
therefore the other customers/passengers will be upset/inconvenienced,

therefore I think that if we find a more comfortable place for him...' Okay?

So, I'm using reasons to help with my argument. I'll let you know how this goes on Saturday when I try this out,

but it would be great if you tried these persuasive techniques out yourself.

So, think of an example: Who do you need to persuade at the moment?

What's a situation in which you could try to change things, take things into your own hands?

Will you get people to understand your point of view? Can you shock them? Have some fun with that. How can you twist things around?

How can you get someone to suddenly go: 'Oh. Oh yeah, I hadn't thought of that'?

Can you use words that get people feeling your story?

Words like: 'Hunger', 'desperation', 'sadness', 'urgently'. Okay? Lots of adverbs have emotive qualities.

Can you get them to feel guilty if they don't help you? Charm them, pay them compliments, then get in and tell them what you need.

Threaten them, but in an unintimidating way. Be, you know, forceful without being confrontational. Okay? We don't want to fight, here.

Rule of 3: List three reasons or qualities. Ask that question. Really make them think.

Use repetition to really put your point across. Can you strike a deal?
