Lucija, let me know when we start filming.
露西佳,我们开始拍摄的时候通知我。
I think we already started. I see the red light is on.
我想我们已经开始了。我看到红灯亮了。
Well, this is awkward. This Everyday Grammar. I'm Kaveh.
好吧,这太尴尬了。欢迎收看《每日语法》栏目,我是卡维。
And I'm Lucija. Today we're talking about the common adverb Well.
我是露西佳。我们今天讲的是常见副词Well。
Well, let's go for it!
好吧,我们开始吧!
Well can have three different meanings.
Well有三种不同的含义。
The first is to show contrast or disagreement.
第一种表示对比或不同意。
I can't believe I miss the meeting!
真不敢相信我错过了会议。
Well, I did tell you it started at 8 sharp.
但我告诉过你会议从8点整开始的。
I failed my test.
我考试没通过。
Well, you would have gotten a better grade if you studied.
但如果你学习的话,会得到一个更好的分数。
The second use of Well is to show uncertainty, especially in answers.
Well的第二种用法是表示不确定性,特别是在答话中。
Are you free on Friday?
你星期五有空吗?
Well, I'm supposed to have dinner with friends...
可能吧,我应该和朋友一起去吃饭……
In this example, the second speaker is to show to respond,
在这个例子中,第二个说话者是为了响应,
because they are unsure if they have plans on Friday.
因为他们也不确定星期五是否有计划,
The speaker is supposed to have dinner,
说话者应该去吃饭,
but it is possible it was not yet confirmed and they do not know if they have free time.
但可能还不确定,他们也不知道是否有空。
And the third use of Well is to show a conversation is ending.
Well的第三种用法是暗示对话结束。
For example, if you meet an friend on the street, and after a couple of minutes they say,
比如,如果你在大街上碰到一个朋友,几分钟后他们说,
Well, it was nice running into you.
很高兴遇见你。
It indicates that the friend wants to end the conversation soon.
这预示着你的朋友想尽快结束对话。
Lucija, in American culture that's an indirect way of ending a conversation, right?
露西佳,在美国文化中,这是结束对话的一种间接方式,对吧?
Yes, it is! Well, this was fun!
没错!不过,这个词很有趣!
And that's Everyday Grammar!
以上就是今天的全部内容!
