Every year our amazing planet Earth is able to regenerate a huge amount of environmental resources used up by humans, including water, soil, and clean air.
But in the past few decades, we've been using an increased amount of these resources, which is why environmental groups began calculating the day each year on which we go over our limit and essentially begin living on credit. Since the calculations officially began in 1986, the milestone has been arriving earlier and earlier each year. This year we will have used up Earth's resources by August 2nd.
