Former U.S. President Barack Obama said Tuesday that he believes the country will continue to make progress on combating climate change, even under Trump's presidency.
Before taking office, President Donald Trump pledged to cancel the 2015 Paris treaty signed by nearly 200 countries which aims to phase out the use of fossil fuels. Trump, who wants to boost the U.S. coal industry, is expected to announce in the next few days if he will back out of the deal.
