It's northern and in the winter you never see sunshine and in the summer you never see dark

I mean this is the crazy, schizophrenic place

And yet you know what, the rates of depression are unbelievably low there

Not only regular depression but

seasonal affective disorder which is what you get when it's really dark out postpartum depression

bipolar depression, so on and so forth

and certainly lower than their sister country Finland where everybody's jumping off bridges

So it really is quite amazing

And this is one of the researchers who are studying this

His name is Johann Axelsson and he calls that Iceland's depression paradox

at 11 at night in the summer. In Iceland, you see it still light up

So at first Johann Axelsson thought that

And so he thought this makes sense
