Warren Buffett is backing a bid for Yahoo’s core internet assets, news reports said. The 85-year-old head of Berkshire Hathaway, who has previously shunned investment in the industry, has joined forces with Dan Gilbert, a billionaire who founded Quicken Loans, a mortgage lender. However, Verizon, a telecoms giant, is thought to be the likeliest buyer.
