A Chinese leather-goods firm won the right to use the name “IPHONE” on its products. Xintong Tiandi Technology applied for the trademark in 2007; the application made in China by Apple, which makes the iPhone, was not approved until 2013. A Beijing court argued that Apple had not been able to prove the name was a famous brand.
