in defence of
防御；保护:
We had a lot of respect for soldiers who died in defence of their country.
我们十分尊敬为保祖国而献身的战士。

fugitive (from sb / sth)
逃亡者；逃跑者；亡命者:
He is a fugitive from justice.
他是一名逃犯。

absence (from...)
缺席；不在:
The decision was made in my absence (= while I was not there).
这个决定是我不在的时候作出的。

escape (from sb / sth)
(从监禁或管制中)逃跑,逃走,逃出:
He escaped from prison this morning.
他今天早上从监狱里逃跑了。
