It's a lot easier too to tell a story
如果你了解某个故事
you know the story you were a part of it
或者这件事就发生在你身上 这样讲起故事来会简单得多
So again your personality is coming through you're a little bit more relax

Instead of saying

I am junior at SPU as Patty said I am from a small town in Chicago, I have three brothers
我在西雅图太平洋大学读大三 来自于芝加哥的一个小镇，弟兄三个
it's much more, excuse me, exciting to the listener
不好意思，听众听起来会更有意思
say, you know, I am at SPU last year
如果你说，我去年在西雅图太平洋大学
I had the job opportunity to work on project
我有机会参加了一个项目
During that project I realized that I was really good at leading other people
在参与项目过程中 我意识到我很擅长领导别人
and so on and so forth
等等
So it's something that you are much more at ease and it's much more interesting to the person that you are talking to
像这样的事你讲起来会比较自然 面试官听起来也比较有意思
A little bit more about tell me about yourself
再讲讲谈谈你自己这个问题
Tell a brief story, keep it pretty short
要讲一个简短的故事，一定要短
Just again, highlight your strength and skills
再说一遍，要突出自己的优点和技能
as we said, stories naturally convey enthusiasm
我们说过，故事本身就能传达一种热情
and you are more at ease
而你也会比较放松
And then when you are telling this brief story
在讲这个小故事时
break it down into 3 parts
把它分成3部分
Talk about the challenge you faced, the situation you were in
一部分是你面对的挑战，遇到了哪些状况
what actions you took specifically
你相应的采取了哪些行动
So even if you were on a group project
即使你参与的是一个团体项目
talk about what you did specifically
也要突出你自己都做了哪些
that's what they're interested in at this time
这正是面试官感兴趣的部分
And don't forget to include the results you produced
别忘了讲述你处理的结果
or the outcome of the challenge
或者应对这个挑战的结局
You wanna practice these stories don't think you can just walk in and have these stories roll off your tongue
事前要尝试练习讲讲这些故事 别以为你一到那儿 这些故事就自然而然涌向你的嘴边了
You wanna take the time, you wanna be organized
要腾出时间，组织一下语言
you wanna rehearse them as I said
做一下预演
and you actually want to practice and rehearse them
确确实实需要进行练习和预演
till you actually sound unrehearsed
直到你讲起来就像提前没排练过一样
And also, when telling your stories
还有，就是讲故事的时候
again you wanna tell about the positive stories
要讲一些正面的故事
and practice enough, that you'll come across relaxed
提前练习这样你会很放松
you'll be smiling
保持微笑
you'll come over as having good communication skill
这样看起来你有良好的沟通能力
should be more engaging
更有魅力
and communicate the fact that you know yourself
向人传达你有很好的自我认知
