So these are data
very similar data that have been shown many times before
It just Bautista and colleagues last year
representative sample
they just asked a population or the sample
what are barriers you perceive to why you don't exercise
you don't engage in physical activity
We see that feeling too tired is consistently reported
as one of the most important factors that explain
why people are not likely to engage in physical activity
So again, you don't get enough sleep
you might be less liable or less able to engage in physical activity
And very interesting data
These have already been addressed today by Dr. Van Cauter
But I'll go ahead and talk about it again a little bit
I thought it was a very interesting study at University of Chicago
Bromley and colleagues have just published these data recently
They had within a set of crossover design, and young healthy adults
though they do have parental history of Type II diabetes
So in one condition
they stayed in laboratory conditions
and had 8.5 hours to be in bed
and another condition for a week
they were in bed for 5.5 hours
And they lived on campus the whole time
So it happens that 7 of the 18 subjects
were regular exercisers
which I think was to define somewhat liberally
they did exercise couple of days a week at least
Those people were allowed to continue as the best as they could
under the campus conditions
They were able to continue their exercise
They actually escorted them to the exercise facility
And they found very interesting results
