At least 36 people have been killed, and 110 injured, in an explosion in the country's eastern city of Jalalabad.

Local police say the blast occurred outside a bank where government workers collect their salaries, and that the attack was probably carried out by a suicide bomber.

Police are also investigating if there was a second explosion after people rushed to the scene to help.
