It is not surprising that romance springs up at the office. Young professionals often spend more time at the office than at home. Naturally, they seek their potential partners within their surrounding environment--the office. It is a non-threatening environment where they have an opportunity to meet individuals of similar backgrounds and interests, and learn more about them than just what they look like. Relationships with co-workers can be especially tempting(吸引人的) because hard work doesn't leave much time for socializing. Office romances can be fun and successful----a growing number of newlyweds(新婚的人) are co-workers.
Office romances also have their drawbacks(缺陷). For example, no matter how well the relationship is going, the situation itself is a recipe(引导,药方) for disaster(灾难). The fact that couples are in constant contact with one another day and night may cause friction within the relationship. Everyone needs "private time" to pursue hobbies or hang out with friends, and the lack of it may cause relationships to selfdestruct.
