Every year in mid May, in Wegrow, in the Mazovia region of Poland, a festival is held celebrating marriage traditions. The Festival of Wedding Rituals is a fabulous event with contests for best regional wedding ceremony,food and music.
A typical Polish wedding usually lasts from one to three days. In the early afternoon, the groom's parents and grandparents travel to the bride's family home for a special blessing before the church ceremony. Then, the wedding ceremony starts at 4 p.m. and lasts about an hour.
After the ceremony, guests at the wedding will join together in singing and dancing, and of course enjoying excellent cuisine, and drinking the best Polish vodkas.
And now, the annual event has become a tourist attraction, with more and more tourists from other regions of Poland and from around the world coming here to take part in the festival.
