新年伊始,京津冀普降大雪,局地降暴雪。北京天津的降雪量为1951年以来同期最大。
1月2日至3日,北京、天津、河北、内蒙古、山东北部等地出现较大范围降雪。北京和天津降雪量较大,降雪主要发生时段集中在2日夜间至3日白天,降雪量普遍有4~8毫米,部分地区降雪量有10~18毫米。其中,北京居庸关降雪量达到21.8毫米,怀柔18.5毫米。河北、天津等地局部地区出现大于10毫米的降雪。
北京和天津降雪量打破了1951年以来1月份日最大降雪量历史记录(北京日降雪量历史极值为6.2毫米,出现在1989年1月6日;天津日降雪量历史极值为6.6毫米,出现在1997年1月4日)。
Part of N. China sees largest amount of snowfall in 59 years
China's Central Meteorological Station says, Beijing and Tianjin saw the largest amount of snowfall since 1951, on Sunday.
Experts say the blizzard will move towards the southeast to Liaoning and Shandong Provinces, bringing more than 10 millimeters of snow. Meanwhile, a strong cold front will extend across northern and central China, sending temperatures down by 8 to 12 degrees Celsius.
Later in the week, temperatures in the north was forecasted to plummet to minus 20 to 32 degrees Celsius, while areas along the Yellow and Huaihe rivers are expected to drop to minus 10 to 18 degrees Celsius.
The CMS issued the first orange alert against the cold weather on Saturday, and a second on Sunday morning.
