Shuttle returns after successful mission
The Space shuttle Atlantis and its seven member crew are back on earth after the successful mission to repair and upgrade the Hubble Space Telescope.
Atlantis landed at Edwards Air Force Base in California because of poor weather conditions for the third day in a row at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The shuttle had arrived at the Hubble Space Telescope on May 13th. During the mission, Atlantis' seven astronauts performed five space walks.
They installed a new camera, and replaced all six batteries and gyroscopes, and one Fine Guidance Sensor on the telescope. Their work left Hubble better than ever and ready for another five years, or more, of operation.
