...in the summer. OK see you then.
See you then. Now for most struggling singers, reaching a new audience / involves travelling the country / in a clapped-out transit van, playing on small stages in the back of a local pub, but not for 24-year-old Sandi Thom. Inspired by Internet-based success of the Sheffield band, the Arctic Monkeys, Sandi set up a webcam in her basement flat in South London. 70 people logged on for her first performance . But two weeks on, the nightly audience is over 120,000. Harry Fawcett reports.
1,2,3,4.
It might look like a basement rehearsal space, but this is a concert venue which at last count held an audience of 128,000.
Since we're on a journey, and be that so be, and there won't be a uphill struggle on.....
Sandi Thom and her band mates have been trying for that big break for the last 3 years. Suddenly in the last 2 weeks and from the comfortless flat and less than glamorous Tooting, they're on the verge of it.
We dream of playing to, playing in Wembley, or wherever, you know, playing to the massive crowds. It's so, it's quite surreal, because we are already doing that, but we just don't physically see(ing) it, you know and see, got us fun from 9-inch Sophocles(Sophocles可能是一个电脑牌子), doing all of us the gigs, otherwise you can get a bit, kind of wait and start to make cups of tea when the toilet suffers with this.
Apart from a -half -dozen -or- so fans who come to see her live, her website even offers them beds for the night. This is what the concert looks like for Sandi's mushily audience. But this isn't entirely a DIY effort. Sandi's record label drafted in a web company with access to 16,000 computer servers to host the virtual concerts. Otherwise the sheer number of viewers would have crashed the webcast. The massive success of the Arctic Monkeys who've aslo used the Internet to circumvent the usual industrial rules was one source of inspiration. Inernet marketing means bypassing or the plugging, giging and PR and going straight to the consumer. The virtual audience's made up of real people after all, who it hoped will buy real records.
I, I, I've, I haven't heard about them in the last couple of weeks, but since, since seeing them, since seeing them on the Internet, definetely, I think that they're fantastic and like to give them some of the fun.
Oh! I wish I was a punk rocker girl with flowers in my hair...
And surprisingly Sandi's re-releasing her Johnny Mitutinge's (估计是个音乐制作人,或是发行公司) first single and the concert's finished / next week, hoping to make the most of all interest they generated on the web and in the media. Her debut album will follow in April that the big record labels are rumoured to be circling.
when it does kind of, sort of wind up new doors of album, over the space of 24 hours, then everything changes. It's just a bit, it's quite crazy. yes. (It's been quite frightening as well.) Yes, uhm...It's very exciting, it's, it's, it's, but it's, it's, for it's yeah, it's, it's scary, but it's, it's good, it's good scary.
And if you want to tune in Sandi's gig tonight, all the details're on our website. If you're doing the same thing, maybe let us know.....
