1. Stocks fell sharply Friday. Analysts blamed a series of depressing economic and earnings reports and high oil prices. The major stock indexes fell more than 2%. The Dow closed down nearly 316 points.

2. Las Vegas police say a man is in critical condition after they found the deadly toxin ricin in his motel room. Six others were hospitalized as a precaution. Police don't believe the case is terrorism-related, but can’t say why the man had a vial of the poison.

3. A 17-year-old boy says his exchange family in Egypt starved him. He returned to Maine in January, weighing just 97 pounds. He was hospitalized for two weeks and has since regained 20 pounds.

4. British military officials have pulled Prince Harry from his mission in Afghanistan. They say media coverage of the royal's deployment could put him and his comrades at risk.
