1. New England's first major winter storm of 2008 snarled the Monday morning commute with heavy snow and closed hundreds of schools. Many flights were cancelled at airports in Boston and Portland, Maine.
2. A Taliban spokesman claims responsibility for an explosion and several rounds of gunfire at a luxury hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan. An American citizen inside the hotel says she believes at least one person was killed and three injured. The hotel is often used by foreigners.
3. A Minnesota meat packer is recalling about 188,000 pounds of beef that may be contaminated with E.coli. The meat was produced October 30th and November 6th then sold nationwide, but only to restaurants and food service institutions.
4. President Bush is on his first visit to Saudi Arabia. He delivered a major arms sale to the oil-rich kingdom and ally which borders Iran. Talks with King Abdullah are expected to cover peace between Israelis and Palestinians and democracy in the Middle East.
