1.The day after a sharp change in the direction of the presidential race, Barack Obama says unpredictability is becoming the hallmark of 2008. He came in second to Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary in New Hampshire. Republican John McCain says he is optimistic after his victory.
2.Three people died when 50 cars and trucks crashed on a Florida highway. Police say fog and smoke obscured the view and led to the pileup between Tampa and Orlando.
3.One of two New Jersey prison inmates who escaped in a method right out of Shawshank Redemption is back in custody. Twenty-year-old Jose Espinosa was found half a mile from the prison three weeks after digging his way out.
4.The mayor of Pontiac, Illinois was making training videos when he heard an emergency call about a woman who had fallen into a river. He grabbed his camera and caught images of the woman being carried away by the storm-swollen Vermillion River. After missing several ropes thrown to her, the woman finally grabbed one thrown in by a police officer and was pulled to safety.
